Synopsis

Shekhar (Shammi Kapoor) is a humourless, pompous businessman from a wealthy family. Laughter is regarded as a sign of belonging to the plebeian class and is not encouraged in his home. The only member to dare put on a cheerful face is his sister, Mala (Lalita Pawar).

When Shekhar's mother finds out Mala is romancing Jeevan (Anoop Kumar), a man from a poor background, she asks Shekhar to take her away from their home to distant and scenic Kashmir in the hope that Mala will forget Jeevan. She also informs Shekhar that arrangements have been made for him to marry a girl from an aristocratic family.

In Kashmir Shekhar meets Rajkumari (Saira Banoo), whom he finds himself stranded with for a night during a snowstorm. He realizes what he has been missing and becomes a carefree man in love.
